I have worked on curriculum in many aspects during my career here at Harlem. My latest was in 2013-2014 school year where we worked to align our math curriculum to common core. This was the official time we worked on curriculum. The unofficial occurs all of the time on our own time. The summer of 2014 Harty, Abruzzo, and I worked on revamping the Alg II curriculum. We have rewritten tests, and recreated worksheets. Most of this was done by Abruzzo and Harty because they taught the previous year Alg II. I was transfering from Alg II CCR to Alg II. I have enjoyed revamping the curriculum and coming up with creative ideas to ge the same points across. I use and write for teacherspayteachers. This helps to come up with more interactive activities for the students.
2016-2017/ In the fall of 2016 we started meeting for PLCs. This has truly been helpful in that we are having true collaboration time. We have worked on curriculum and have reduced our content and become more focused. We have successfully completed our pretest and post test for both semester 1 and 2 for Algebra II.
Also in regards to curriculum, fall 2016 has been a time of change because Abruzzo and I went to Standards Based Grading. Through this, I have been more focused on how I teach the curriculum. Students are assessed every Friday (or last day of the week). This curriculum redesigning has been beneficial to our students in that we are both seeing them progessing more. Our data will be shown at semester.
Most curriculum and how I teach it can be seen on www.math.osar.us
